Description

Colley Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was reroofed in the 19th century, with the west gable end rebuilt in the 20th century. It is constructed of random rubble local stone and has an asbestos slate roof that is hipped to the left. The building features brick stacks to the right of the central entrance and between the first and second bays on the right. The plan consists of three cells and a cross passage facing north, with a coeval or almost contemporary single bay addition at the west gable end.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a facade with two bays, one bay, and one bay. Most windows are late 19th to early 20th century wooden three-light casements, except for a 20th-century two-light window in the first-floor end bay on the right. The ground floor openings have wooden lintels, with the left side featuring three-light casements flanking a four-panel door. There is a 20th-century door leading to the through passage, a three-light casement, and another entrance in the end bay on the right.

Inside, the kitchen is located to the right of the through passage and includes a spice cupboard. It features steeply chamfered beads with step and run-out stops, and a depressed Tudor arch head doorframe leading from the through passage into the hall. The ceiling has a six-panel compartment design, and there is a cob wall to the inner roof with scroll stops to a chamfered beam that appears to have been used for storage for some time. The property is noted to have been referred to as Blindmore Manor in 1664 and was part of the nearby Forde Abbey estate in 1839.
