Description
Ashford Farmhouse is a building that dates from around 1805. Originally a dower house for Brynore House, which is now Brymore School, it later became a farmhouse and is currently a house. The structure is made of stucco and features a hipped slate roof with wide bracketed eaves and brick stacks. The symmetrical front has two storeys and three bays, with the centre bay slightly stepped forward. The first floor has 9-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has tall sash windows that have had their glazing bars removed.
The entrance features a central door opening with a semi-circular head, a two-panelled door, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. It is complemented by a projecting wooden porch with paired panelled pilasters. Inside, there is simple ornamental plasterwork on the ceilings, and the left ground floor room and the room at the rear have fireplaces with fluted marble surrounds and 20th-century grates. The staircase is original, with a moulded handrail and stick balusters, and there are also original six-panelled doors and internal window shutters.
