Description
These are almshouses built in 1868 by the architect Benjamin Ferrey. They are constructed from coursed rubble with freestone details and have plain tile roofs, featuring diagonally set dressed stone stacks. Designed in the Tudor style, the buildings are single storey with an attic, with each unit consisting of a single bay. Each door opening has an equilateral arch surrounded by a moulded frame, and is flanked by a bay window that features wooden mullion-and-transom fenestration set in a stone surround. The single pitch roof over the bays extends the entire length of the facade, creating a porch for each doorway, supported by curved wooden brackets. The first floor has 2-light casements, each set within individual gables.
