Description
Hill House is a house, now divided, with an attached linhay to the east. It dates from the 17th century, with early 19th-century additions. The building is rendered, with quoins distinguishing the left-hand two bays, which have a more steeply pitched slate roof compared to the right-hand section that has a corrugated iron roof and brick stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a layout of 2:4 bays. The left-hand bays feature 20th-century casements and a French window with raised surrounds and a keystone, while the right side has irregularly placed casements. The entrance to the left-hand dwelling is in the first bay of the right-hand dwelling, with a modern door, and the third bay of the left-hand dwelling contains a plank door entrance. There is a 20th-century single-storey glazed extension on the left-hand two bays.
Inside, the house is reputed to contain two good stud and panel walls, one located to the right of the cross passage and another dividing the two rooms on the ground floor to the left. Chamfered beams distinguish the hall, which likely has a chamber above and a service room to the right. The linhay is constructed of random rubble with rounded piers and consists of three bays, topped with a slate roof.
