Description
The boundary wall and gateway, located about 15 meters south of The Coach House, date from around 1800. Constructed from Ham stone ashlar, the walls feature plain copings and have been raised by two courses of tooled stone with curved drops at each end. The central gateway is flanked by square piers that have plain plinths, thin frieze bands, and plain caps topped with bell-hipped designs. The gates are designed in a Regency style, featuring diamond interlacing on the bottom rail, circular ornamentation on the middle rail, and segmental arched top rails without spikes. This structure enhances both the streetscape and the setting of The Coach House.
