Description
No. 15 Fore Street is a shop built in the mid-18th century, with a rear wing dating from the 16th or 17th century. The building features a stucco exterior with stone coping on the parapet and cornice, along with painted stone pilasters, cills, and moulded architraves that include keystones on the first floor. The rear is constructed of limestone and sandstone rubble, topped with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan, with an earlier range running parallel to the street at the back. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century horned plate-glass sashes, with those on the first floor framed by segmental arches; the cills have been removed to fit a 20th-century fascia. The keystones on the second floor connect to the cornice. The rear range features a late 17th or early 18th-century stone mullioned three-light window set in a large gabled half dormer. To the left of the rear, there is a 6/6-pane sash window at eaves level and a 20th-century extension at ground level. The interior has not been inspected.
