Description
The gateway and front boundary walls to Priory Farmhouse, likely from the 18th century, are constructed of ham stone rubble with ashlar dressings and feature wrought-iron gates. The walling runs across the front garden or courtyard and has slight returns to the two flanking wings of Priory Farmhouse. It stands about one metre high and is topped with thin ashlar copings that sweep up to the gatepiers opposite the house's doorway. The square gate piers are made of roughly squared stones and have cornice caps, steps, and recked stands for ball finials. The pair of wrought-iron gates, which have scroll decoration, are probably from the early 20th century. This structure is an important part of the setting of Priory Farmhouse and contributes to the village streetscape.
