Description

Lloyds Bank is a building that was originally a house, now serving as a bank. It dates mostly from the late 19th century but may include some work from the 17th century. The structure is made of local lias stone that is cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings, and the ground floor is colourwashed. It features a double Roman clay tiled roof with a plain gable and stone end chimney stacks that are moulded.

The building has two storeys and consists of four bays. The upper level has sash windows with 12 panes set in plain raised toothed ashlar surrounds. The ground floor has a rendered front with a plinth, rusticated pilasters leading up to a string course, and architraved sash windows. There are a pair of 12-pane windows in bay 1, a 12-pane window in bay 3, and a 16-pane window in bay 4. In bay 2, there is a 20th-century panelled door beneath a simple timber hood.

This building is included in the register primarily for its group value, as it occupies part of the site of the Great House that existed before 1661, of which the adjoining Manor House is a surviving fragment.
