Description
No. 5A on Cathedral Green is a building that originally served as a house and has been converted into offices. It dates from the 17th century and later. The structure is made of local stone rubble with some ashlar and features a triple roll clay tiled roof with coped gables, and a brick chimney stack.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a single bay. On the ground floor, there is a 6-panel door that has been partially glazed, framed in heavy timber with an architrave. Above the door, there is a composite sash window with 36 panes, arranged in 18+18, and thick glazing bars. This window is set into a deepened former surround that likely belonged to a 3- or 4-light stone mullioned window, with worn mouldings that may be reverse chamfered.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is connected to No. 3 Market Place.
