Description
No. 2 and Byrnes is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling, with an attached wall to the east. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of painted rough limestone ashlar and rubblestone, featuring Ham Hill stone coping on the parapet wall and a shallow-pitch roof that is not visible. The building has two storeys.
No. 2, located on the left, has a two-window range and is made of ashlar, while Byrnes, on the right, is made of rubblestone and has a single window range. No. 2 curves back to meet No. 6 to the west. The first floor of No. 2 features early 19th-century eight-over-eight pane sash windows, with the window on the curve set in a curved frame, situated above a 20th-century glazed shop door; to the right is a plate-glass window. Byrnes has a late 19th-century three-light casement window in the center of the first floor and a two-over-one pane sash window beneath a wooden lintel. There is a 20th-century Tudor-style door to the left and a small 20th-century bathroom window on the far right. The interior has not been inspected.
A limestone rubble wall, approximately 2 meters high, is attached to the right side of the building and fronts West Street for about 30 meters.
