Description
The Old Police Station is a detached house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from ashlar Doulting stone and features a double Roman clay tile gabled roof, box eaves, and end ashlar stone stacks with moulded caps. The building has two storeys and a basement, with a three-window front and a central entrance. The entrance has a 20th-century door that consists of 15 panels, the top 12 of which are glazed, set in beaded stone architraves. Above the door, there is a flat, edge-moulded stone hood slab supported by carved brackets. On either side of the door, there are two-light, 12-pane sash windows framed in bead-moulded stone. On the first floor, above the entrance, there is a 12-pane sash window, and on each side, a Venetian window. The central 12-pane sash windows have a semi-circular head and scalloped glazing, with 8-pane side windows, all set in bead-moulded stone frames that feature an expressed key stone.
