Description
The Old Post Office is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with some alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, featuring two brick stacks and a thatched roof. The building stands two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor includes two three-light moulded wooden mullioned windows with leaded lights, while the ground floor has a sixteen-pane flush mounted sash window to the left and a fixed twelve-pane casement window at the extreme left. The central door opening contains a glazed door, and all ground floor openings are topped with wooden lintels. The left side of the building features 19th-century glazing that was added when it served as a post office. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, a fireplace with a broad wooden bressumer, and a collar-beam roof from the 17th century.
