Description
Rocke's is a house with a 17th-century wing at right angles to the rear, featuring a pierced pennant dated "1673" and a fireback dated "1615". An early 19th-century range was added to the road frontage. The building is constructed of coursed and squared lias rubble, with slate and double Roman tile roofs, and brick stacks, two of which are paired and set diagonally, along with coped verges. The house has an L-plan layout and a symmetrical road frontage that is two storeys high with three bays. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features 16-pane sash windows. There is a central door opening with a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed at the top, and a later tile hood on posts. At the rear, there is a two-storey and attic wing with irregular fenestration, including one, two, and three-light wooden-mullioned windows under stopped labels, one of which is in a shallow projection. The right return has similar fenestration. Inside the early wing, there are back-to-back fireplaces, a moulded and stopped door surround, and a winder staircase.
