Description
The walls enclosing the burial ground of the former Congregational Chapel date from the 18th century and later. They are constructed of ham stone, with the front made of ashlar and the rest of the structure built from coursed rubble. The north front wall stands about 1.2 meters high and features thin angled coping that curves up at each end and at the central gateway. This gateway is marked by square piers topped with cornice mouldings, steps, and ball finials, and it includes a pair of 20th-century timber gates. A new chapel was registered on this site in 1701, but it was demolished in 1913, with the stone being repurposed to repair the graveyard walls. The ground remains as a closed burial ground.
