Description
This description covers a group of three monuments located to the east of the Church of St. Margaret. The monuments consist of three chest tombs, with two dating from the 17th century and one from the 18th century. They are made of dressed stone and feature oblong chests set on plinths topped with hipped slabs. The southern chest is dedicated to John Shute and is dated 1688. The northern chest commemorates Thomas Branch and is dated 1779, although it is believed to be older. The central chest has all its inscriptions decayed, while the outer chests display fine 17th-century ornamentation.
