Description

Newbury House is a country house built in the early 18th century, with later alterations. It features colourwashed brick with freestone dressings, a dentil cornice, and a parapet with coping. The hipped slate roof is divided into three sections and has three box dormers, along with predominantly rendered and ashlar stacks. The architectural style is Baroque, and the house has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a 2:5:3 bay configuration, with the centre section breaking forward. Rusticated angle pilasters adorn the centre and wings, and there is a plain band at the first floor level. The windows are 12-pane sash types set in moulded architraves with emphasised keys and moulded sills. A 19th-century ashlar porch is located at the angle between the right wing and the centre block, featuring a strapwork parapet and paired half-glazed doors.
