Description
St Margaret's is a mid-19th century house located on Abbey Street in Crewkerne. It is built from Ham Hill stone rubble, with a squared facade and stepped copings on the slate roof, which features stacks with moulded cornices. The house has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, displaying a symmetrical three-window range. The entrance is a round-arched door with a semi-circular overlight, positioned to the far right. All other openings feature shallow segmental arches. The front door is a six-panel design beneath a swept, hipped lead porch that has trellised sides, and it is paired with a late 19th-century horned two-over-two pane sash window. The remaining windows are paired one-over-one pane sashes, which may have originally been part of tripartite windows. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have raised and fielded panels on the ground-floor shutters. The forecourt is enclosed by a Ham Hill stone plinth that supports spearhead railings topped with urn finials.
