Description
Oakhill Manor is a country house dating to circa 1870, situated on Zion Hill in Ashwick. Built of quarry-faced rubble with ashlar dressings, it exhibits an asymmetrical free "Tudor" style, characterized by prominent gables. The plan is square, with a long service wing attached. The house is two storeys and an attic, and features irregular fenestration with stone mullion and transom windows, some of which retain panelled lead glazing. A projecting porch and a large, full-height bow window housing the stairwell are notable features, both adorned with carved ornament to their cornices. The building has coped gables topped with ball finials, and ashlar stacks with corner panelling and moulded cappings.
