Description

Oakhill House is a country house dating to around 1820. It is constructed of stucco with Bath stone detailing, has a hipped slate roof, and ashlar stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a five-bay facade, with the central three bays projecting. It features sash windows with glazing bars to the first floor, set within moulded stone architraves, and cornices above each ground floor window. A flat-roofed entrance porch, supported by two pairs of Doric columns and a cornice, is located on the left side. A secondary entrance is present on the right. The building has corner pilasters and an eaves cornice. A three-bay return is visible on the left side, and a further two-bay wing extends from the rear. The interior includes fine plasterwork to the main ground floor rooms, as well as noteworthy fireplaces and woodwork. A lantern-lit central stairwell features a staircase with cast iron foliated side panels.
