Description
Troake Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early 16th century and extended in the late 17th century. The building was refronted and a bay to the left was demolished in the mid-19th century. The right side features 16th-century cob, while the late 17th-century section is made of coursed rubble. The front is rendered, and the roof is hipped with artificial slate, supported by brick end stacks. The farmhouse has a two-unit plan with a central cross passage and a rear right outshut. It is two storeys high with a two-window range and has a 20th-century gabled porch at the centre. The windows are 19th-century unhorned 8/8-pane sashes. Inside, the early 16th-century bay to the right contains stopped hollow-chamfered beams, a blocked open fireplace with a chamfered bressummer, and three early 16th-century chamfered Tudor-arched door architraves. To the left, there are two late 17th-century stop-chamfered beams and 19th-century plank and panelled doors.
