Description
Benter House is a small country house built in 1829, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features prominent quoin bands, a moulded cornice, a parapet with moulded coping, hipped slate roofs, and ashlar stacks. The symmetrical garden front has a layout of one bay, three bays, and one bay, with the central three bays stepping forward. It includes twelve and sixteen-pane sash windows set in architraves, as well as three three-quarter glazed French windows in the central bays on the ground floor. The returns and rear of the house are styled similarly. Inside, there is an interesting staircase, ornamental plasterwork, and decorative chimney-pieces.
