Description

Middle Wick Farmhouse is a long range of cottages facing south, likely dating from the early 19th century, although it incorporates older stonework. The building is two storeys high and constructed from a mix of rubble and ashlar, with a pantile roof and gable-end parapets featuring kneelers. Four chimneys are present, one on the right-hand side constructed of ashlar with a moulded cornice. The right-hand gable-end has banded quoins. There are six windows, with two and three-light wooden casements. A larger casement is located on the ground floor to the left, protected by a wooden lintel, and in the middle of the building, two other windows are set within brick segmental arches. Two doorways are visible; one on the left, sheltered by a flat wooden hood supported by elaborate volutes, and the other with a segmental head and a half-glazed door, situated under a wooden porch with a triangular head supported by two slender columns. An inset stone at first-floor level displays a shield and the inscription 'John Fussell 1656'.
