Description

Capton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1809. It is constructed of red sandstone random rubble and features a modern slate roof with coped verges and brick stacks at the gable ends. To the left, there is a lower addition with a hipped roof covered in bitumen, and a tall brick stack rises from the eaves. The building has a parallel range with a service wing on the left side. The facade includes 16-pane sash windows and a central arched doorcase with a modified 6-panel door. Above the door, there is a leaded fanlight and a plaque inscribed with "IT (John Trevelyan) 1809." This farmhouse was part of the Nettlecombe estate.
