Description
This building is a row of shops located at 11A, 13, and 15 Castlegate in Knaresborough, likely dating from the early 18th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is rendered and incised, topped with a Westmorland slate roof. It has two storeys and attics, with three bays. The shop fronts from the 19th and 20th centuries feature plate-glass windows.
On the first floor, number 11A (on the left) has two 2-pane sash windows and a small casement window to the right. Numbers 13 and 15 have two sash windows and two roof lights. There is a first-floor band on number 11A, which is concealed behind the fascia boards of numbers 13 and 15. The right gable has coping, and there are brick ridge stacks on the left and between the second and third bays. The right return features 19th and 20th-century shop windows, with sashes on the first floor, including one on the left that has glazing bars. The attic contains two 2-light casement windows, and there is a projecting eaves band along the roofline. Three iron tie-bar straps are present in the gable apex. The interior has not been inspected.
