Description
Eastwoods Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features graduated stone slate and grey slate roofs. The main part of the house is three stories tall, with a two-story, one-bay addition to the left.
The principal bay has a plinth and raised quoins. There is a board door in a stone surround on the left and a three-light flat-faced mullion window to the right. The upper floors are also lit by a three-light flat-faced mullion window, which has a transom indicating the floor level. A first-floor band runs along the front, and the gable features shaped kneelers and coping, with a stack at the right end.
The left bay has a 20th-century lean-to covering a door, and a repositioned stone with the letters 'R M' (for Robert Myers) at the first-floor level, along with a square window in a stone surround on the left side of the first floor. There is an end stack on the left.
At the rear, the main range has a two-light mullion and transom window under an outshut on the left, and on the right, there is a two-light mullion window with two transoms in the stair tower. Although the interior was not inspected during the resurvey, it has been reported to contain an original staircase with splat balusters and two pairs of upper crucks with king blocks. The house is located on the site of an earlier house built for Robert Myers around 1635.
