Description

This is an early 19th-century row of buildings, altered in the Victorian and later periods. Numbers 8 to 12, Queen Street, consist of three storeys and have slightly varying heights. Number 12 is built of red brick, while the others are roughcast or rendered. Numbers 8 to 11 have a bracketed eaves cornice, while number 12 has a moulded eaves cornice. Numbers 8 and 11 each have two windows. The second floor features canted bay windows with pilasters. On the first floor, numbers 9 and 10 have superimposed, canted wooden bays, which are pilastered and have moulded cornices. Number 12 has one recessed sash window with intact glazing bars on each of the upper floors. The ground floors have late Victorian or altered shop fronts. The building is listed for its group value. Numbers 5 to 13 form a connected group.
