Description
The stables, now serving as a house and outbuildings, are located approximately 150 metres south-west of Sleningford Park and date from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed rubble and ashlar with a stone slate roof, featuring rusticated quoins. The building is arranged in four blocks around a square courtyard.
The north-east front is two storeys high and has three bays, with the central bay projecting and featuring a round-arched carriage entrance. There are pairs of Diocletian windows flanking the entrance, although the left window is blocked. The façade includes projecting impost bands and architraves, with five square sash windows on the first floor, all framed by architraves. The roof has a moulded eaves cornice and a pediment over the central bay, culminating in a hipped roof.
Within the courtyard, the south-west range features two pairs of board doors leading to the carriage house, with quoins indicating the original limits of this range, which is now connected to the side ranges. There is a board door on the left and a round-arched passage on the right. The flanking north-west and south-east ranges each have two board doors and 16-pane sash windows, all with sawn-stone surrounds.
