Description
Sleningford Mill is a watermill that likely dates from the late 18th century. It features a combination of cobbles, stone, and brick, topped with a 20th-century pantile roof. The main block is two stories high with three bays, accompanied by a lower two-story, two-bay addition on the right and a single-storey wheel-house at the rear. The building has quoins, with a board door on the right and two three-pane windows to the left, all equipped with wooden lintels. There are steps leading up to the board door on the far left and a loading door in the center of the first floor, flanked by three-pane windows. Four X-shaped tie plates are visible below the eaves. The two-story addition has a door on the first floor to the left and two windows on each floor. The interior retains its machinery, including gearing and stones, although the ground floor was only seen during a resurvey. The mill has been disused since the 1950s, and the two-bay addition now serves as an information center and residence.
