Description
The gate piers and wall, located approximately 2 metres to the east of the lodge to Spring Hill School, date from around 1841 and are contemporary with the palace. They are constructed from limestone rubble and ashlar. The gate piers that flank the entrance stand about 2 metres high and feature ball finials. The curved flanking walls, which have ridged coping, are approximately 1.5 metres high and taper down to about 1 metre at the central pier, which has a shallow pyramidal cap. Similar piers are found at the outer ends of the walls.
