Description

The Orchard is a mid-18th century house constructed of brown brick in English bond, with a 20th-century tile roof. The main block is two storeys high with two first-floor windows and a blind panel above the central entrance. The front door is a six-panel design set within a plain wooden frame, surrounded by large dressed stone blocks and a heavy lintel. An ornate wooden porch with lattice work and an ogee-shaped lead roof shelters the entrance. Sixteen-pane sash windows are set within wooden architraves, with flat soldier arches above the ground-floor windows. A two-course first-floor band and brick cornice are also present, along with end chimneys.

Attached to the left is a lower, two-storey, two-bay extension or service block, featuring bands of stone and cobbles, and stone quoins. The door surround consists of large stone blocks with a plain lintel. A twelve-light sliding sash window is located to the left of the door on the ground floor, with a 20th-century wooden casement window above.
