Description
Skipton Bridge is a bridge built in 1781, designed by John Carr. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features six segmental arches with voussoirs. The central arch is flanked by semi-circular cutwaters that rise to create pedestrian retreats. There is a stone band along the structure, and the plain parapets have chamfered copings. The bridge has square end piers and crosses into the parish of Skipton upon Swale in the Hambleton District.
