Description
No 23 is a house that has been converted into a community centre, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with a Westmorland slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and features three first-floor windows. The central entrance has a 20th-century panelled door with an overlight, flanked by plate-glass windows with flush frames and projecting sills, topped by a fascia board. The first and second floors have sash windows with glazing bars set in near flush frames, which also have projecting stone sills and wedge lintels. There is a brick end stack on the right side. Although the ground floor is rendered and the windows have been renewed, the size and shape of the openings remain consistent with a photograph of the Market Place taken in 1907.
