Description
29-39 Yorkersgate consists of four houses that have been converted into offices and showrooms. They were built in the late 18th century, with some alterations and extensions made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are made of coursed dressed stone and painted render, featuring three roofs covered with pantiles and one with slate, along with five brick or rendered ridge stacks.
The left end house has two storeys and an attic, while the other houses are two storeys tall. The facades have four, three, three, and five windows, respectively. The ground floors are occupied by 20th-century shopfronts that include blocked carriage arches. The right end house features a 12-pane sash window, two blocked windows, and two four-pane sashes set beneath keyed flat arches made of voussoirs on the first floor. The remaining first-floor windows are either one-pane sashes or 20th-century top-hung lights. The left end house has flat arched lintels with fasciated keyblocks.
