Description
No. 25 Yorkersgate is a shop with living accommodation above, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of painted brick in English bond, featuring stone gable coping and shaped kneelers on a pantile roof, which has brick end stacks. It has a three-storey, four-window front.
The entrance, located at the right end, consists of a door with six sunk panels and a plain fanlight set in a round-arched opening, complete with a triple keyblock. To the left, the late 19th-century shop front is supported by cast-iron Doric columns, although it has been reglazed in the 20th century. The outer columns feature carved capitals and brackets beneath a plain fascia and cornice. The upper floor windows are single-pane sashes with painted keyed flat arches and stone sills. The eaves cornice is decorated with egg and dart moulding.
