Description

No. 13 Yorkersgate is likely a house that originally included shops, but it is now used as solicitor's offices and a shop. This building dates from the late 19th century and features painted brick in Flemish bond at the front, with painted stone dressings. It has a timber eaves band and an oriel window, along with cream brick end stacks that support a slate roof.

The structure is three stories tall with a three-window front. The ground floor consists of two shop fronts: a single shop front on the left and a double shop front on the right. These are adorned with panelled pilasters on shaped bases, topped with paired carved brackets and a projecting console cornice. The left shop window has been altered to feature tripled single-pane sashes above a brick riser, positioned next to a panelled door with an overlight. The right shop front includes a small-pane glazed door with an overlight, set back between canted plate glass windows over panelled risers.

On the first floor, there is a three-light oriel window at the right end, which is covered by a hipped pent roof with a moulded cornice that rises in the center to form a gablet. All the windows on the first and second floors are single-pane sashes, with those on the first floor featuring cambered heads. Impost string courses on both floors rise above the windows to create hoodmoulds, and all windows have sloped sills. The building is finished with a moulded eaves cornice above a flat eaves band.
