Description
No. 11 Yorkersgate is a house that has been converted into a restaurant and flats. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring painted stone quoins and dressings. It has a timber eaves cornice, a pantile roof at the front, and a slate roof at the rear. The gables are coped with shaped kneelers, and there are brick stacks at the ends.
The building is four stories high with a three-window front, showcasing raised and chamfered quoins. The ground floor has a double shop front, with a house doorway located at the left end. The house door consists of four sunk panels and features a radial-glazed fanlight, recessed within a plain pilaster and cornice doorcase. The shop front includes glazed double doors set back between four-light canted bay windows that have slender glazing bars, above sunk-panelled risers.
On the first floor, the windows are 12-pane sashes, while the second floor has unequal 9-pane sashes, and the third floor features 20th-century top-hung 9-pane lights. All windows are topped with painted wedge lintels, and the first- and second-floor windows have painted stone sills. There are raised bands at the first, second, and third-floor levels.
