Description
Nos 15A, 15B, and 15C on Main Street, along with the Kings Arms on King Street, were formerly known as the King's Arms Inn and have been converted into shops and apartments. The building is dated 1741 on the right-hand return and was refronted in 1897. The street-facing side features watershot masonry with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has three storeys and four bays. The right-hand return is constructed of slobbered coursed rubble, also with stone dressings and a stone slate roof, and has three storeys and two bays. The right-hand entrance has a plain surround and a pediment with a pulvinated frieze, leading to a six-panel door. Each storey has two windows, all with plain surrounds and sashes with glazing bars, except for the second floor, which features chamfered surrounds and three-over-three sashes. Between the upper two floors, there is a stone panel with a moulded surround, fluting, and an imitation raised and fielded wood panel that contains the initials W/W M and the date. The building also has quoins.
