Description
The Harrogate Arms Hotel, dating from around 1844, was formerly known as the Harlow Car. It is designed in the Tudor style and features two storeys. The building has a double front with one window and a recessed entrance bay that is flanked by one window on either side, leading to gabled bays. The roof is slated, with coped gables topped by stone finials and chimneys that have moulded paired stacks. The exterior is made of hammer-dressed grit stone ashlar, with string courses at the first-floor level and below the eaves, which extend up the gables. The windows are recessed casements with mullions and transoms, featuring chamfered reveals and hood moulds. There are blind lancet windows in the gables and splayed ground floor bay windows with crenellated parapets. The gabled porch has an arched doorway with a fanlight hood mould and double panelled doors.
