Description

Fairview is a cottage dating to the late 17th century, with exterior walls rebuilt between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of pale red-brown local brick and has a pantile roof with raised verges and end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. It follows an end lobby-entry plan. The ground floor has Yorkshire sash windows with small panes set within segmental brick soldier arches. First-floor windows cut through the dentilled eaves band. Inside, there is a timber bressummer to the hearth and ceiling beams. The building is primarily listed for group valuation. A circular iron tie plate is visible on the front elevation. It was noted in the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group, Report No 898.
