Description
No. 38 is a house that likely dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red-brown brick and features a swept pantile roof with a raised verge and an end chimney, as well as a ridge chimney to the left that it shares with No. 36. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. It has a brick plinth and a central 19th-century four-panel door, which is topped by an oblong fanlight and set within a wooden pilaster case that includes an architrave and cornice. The reveals and soffit of the door are panelled. The windows are 16-pane sashes set in flush wood architraves with painted cills. There is a four-course stepped band at the first floor level, with the first floor windows matching those on the ground floor. The eaves are stepped and dentilled. In front of the house, there are simple iron railings with matching gates, which are flanked by gate piers topped with ball finials, all resting on a rebuilt 20th-century dwarf brick wall with stone coping.
