Description
Skell Railway Bridge, built between 1845 and 1848, is constructed of rockfaced sandstone with ashlar dressings. It features three segmental arches supported by rusticated voussoirs and has buttresses, a band, and a coped parapet. The bridge was part of the Leeds and Thirsk Railway, which was authorized by an Act of Parliament on 21 July 1845. Construction began on 20 October 1845, and the section between Ripon and Thirsk opened on 5 January 1848, with the specific section between Weeden and Ripon opening on 13 September 1848.
