Description
Field House is a farmhouse that dates from the mid-to-late 19th century, with some alterations from the 20th century and origins in the early 18th century. It features watershot masonry with stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with three bays.
The central entrance has a chamfered surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "17 28 1.S". It contains a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, and a hood added around 1980. To the right of the entrance, there is a rubble plinth. The right-hand bay and the window above the entrance have windows with moulded surrounds, which were likely once cross windows with mullions and transoms that are now missing; these are sashes without glazing bars.
To the left of the entrance, there are late 19th-century two-light flat-faced mullioned windows on each storey, also sashes without glazing bars. The far left-hand bay is a 1960s addition with one two-light window on each storey. The right gable end has a ridge stack, and there is a left-hand ridge stack at the former left gable. At the rear, there is an early 18th-century former two-light chamfered window on the ground floor, with a missing mullion and sashes that have glazing bars.
