Description
Huggon House is a farmhouse built around 1690, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from squared rubble with stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. It originally featured a lobby entry plan and consists of two storeys with five bays. The central entrance has a chamfered surround and a decorated lintel featuring a dragon or unicorn and a lion rampant in bas relief, with a 20th-century door. To the right on the ground floor, there are two windows that were formerly cross windows, which had chamfered surrounds, but the mullions and transoms are now missing. On the left side of the ground floor is an early 20th-century three-light flat-faced mullioned window that replaced two former cross windows. The upper floor originally had five cross windows, but again, the mullions and transoms are now missing. All windows have 20th-century casements, except for the central upper floor window, which is blocked. The house features gable end and right of centre ridge stacks. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase from around 1690, which has a closed string and bobbin balusters.
