Description
This is a mid-18th century building comprising two shops, located on the South Side of Market Place. It is constructed of red brick and originally comprised one building, later divided into numbers 37 and 38. The building is three storeys in height, with rusticated quoins. It has four windows on each floor, set within moulded stone frames, and the windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. Cills are positioned on tabs. The roof is covered with stone slate and features a good moulded eaves cornice with small paired modillions, topped by a parapet. Two brick stacks are present. The shops are modern. Numbers 37 and 38 form a group with number 36, and together with the other listed buildings on Market Place (South Side), create a wider group.
