Description
Nunnington Bridge is a bridge located in Nunnington, North Yorkshire, dating from the early 18th century. It was partly rebuilt and widened on the upstream side later in the 18th century. The bridge is constructed of dressed sandstone, with the widening done in herringbone-tooled sandstone and sandstone ashlar. It features three spans with cutwaters situated between canted abutments. The central arch is segmental and recessed on the downstream side, flanked by smaller round arches. There are roll mouldings on the downstream side, and a chamfered string course runs beneath a plain parapet with chamfered coping. The cutwaters rise into the parapet to create embrasures, and the parapet is interrupted in the center by an inset octagonal drum that is corbelled on the outer side.
