Description
Newton Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse and cottage, probably dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of pale red brick and features a swept pantile roof with raised verges, along with end and ridge chimneys. The building stands two storeys high and has two bays on each floor.
The farmhouse has 19th-century sash windows set in flush wood architraves. The central entrance features a 19th-century four-panel door beneath an oblong fanlight, all within a wooden doorcase. The cottage has Yorkshire sliding sashes and a central entrance with a 20th-century door under an oblong fanlight. There is a two-course band at the first-floor level, and the eaves are stepped and dentilled. At the time of the re-survey, the cottage was disused.
