Description
No. 4 Westborough is a building dating from around 1880, designed by Hall and Tugwell. It is located at the corner with Huntriss Row and is built in a deep terracotta, showcasing a French Flamboyant style reminiscent of Waterhouse. The structure has three storeys, with the second floor situated in the attic space. It features two large stepped gables with finials facing Westborough, and mullioned windows adorned with blind tracery in the tympani. The first floor includes a canted oriel bay window, and some windows are complemented by thin flanking buttress piers and crocketed ogee arches. The oriel window on the first floor has a shaped finialed copper roof at the bevelled corner, positioned above an entrance that features an ogee crocketed arched fanlight, flanked by recessed octagonal piers capped with foliate designs. The broad gable end facing Huntriss Row has similar window detailing.
