Description
High Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, with earlier origins. It was reroofed around 1950 and has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. The building features red and cream brick in Flemish bond on a tooled sandstone plinth, topped with a Roman tile roof and rebuilt brick stacks. It has a central-stairhall plan and is two rooms deep, presenting a two-storey, three-window front. The entrance consists of a panelled door with a divided overlight, and the windows are 12-pane sashes with painted stone sills and painted wedge lintels above. The end stacks are located at the base of the hipped roof. At the rear, there is a tripartite sash staircase window. Inside, the farmhouse has six-panel doors throughout. The ground-floor front room to the right features a complete Art Nouveau fireplace with a tiled surround, and original firegrates are preserved in the first-floor rooms.
