Description
Naked Man Sweet Shop is a former house that has been converted into a shop, dated 1663. The building features rendered walls with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The shopfront is from the 20th century, with a door on the right that has moulded jambs and a decorated lintel typical of the 17th century; the door itself is a six-panel design with the upper two panels glazed. On the upper floor, there are two 18th-century two-light windows with recessed flat-faced mullions, and the sashes do not have glazing bars. To the left of the right-hand window, there is a crude relief carving of a man holding a dated panel with the initials IC. The right-hand ridge stack is shared with the adjacent building, Sanderson & Co.
