Description
Sidwells is a former inn that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays. The central entrance features Ionic pilasters and a dentilled pediment. The left side has a shop front from the 1970s, while the right bay boasts an ashlar bow window from the 1840s that rises the full height of the facade. The remaining windows on the front and second floors have moulded surrounds. There is a fluted iron rainwater head inscribed with "IBI 1777." The eaves are modillioned and extend across the bow window. The building has projecting quoins on the right side and a dormer from the 1960s. It has two ridge stacks and forms a continuous range with Lamberts. It is reported to be part of the former Golden Lion Inn.
